It is the official language of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, and is the most spoken language in India after Hindi. Telugu is part of the family of Dravidian languages. Basic vocabulary, verbs, sentence synthesis, and grammar dictate the architecture of the language. Telugu has resemblances with Tamil, Kannada and Tulu. Telugu words end with a vowel sound and are often quite melodic to the ear, which is why Telugu has been referred to as the “Italian of the East.” Telugu is mainly spoken in Andhra Pradesh in India and its neighboring states.
